Les magazines EcologiK et Architectures à vivre s’associent à CRATerre, l’École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Grenoble et la chaire UNESCO pour lancer un appel à solidarité afin de défendre le droit de construire en terre crue.

L’emploi de ce matériau concilie en effet la culture avec le social, l’écologie et l’économie, piliers du développement durable.

Ce manifeste revendique la valeur universelle des architectures de terre à la fois comme patrimoine mondial et comme solution contemporaine incontournable pour un futur éco-responsable.

The first issue of the Clay acquired knowledge coordination newspaper is available !

It contains news from the European project of trainings on clay plasters and mobility of the assistanting students in Europe :

-         News from the test trainings, partners’ activities, publications

-         Articles in German, English and French

-         Summary of the first national meeting about clay construction, organized by AsTerre in April 2008 in Grenoble.

 

To go further, develop new synergies !

From eco-construction to quality local agriculture help :

For a contribution to durable development of territories, young generations and public training in environmental, economical or social solutions, either global and local, 2 significant initiatives to know :

 

-         The Equal CROC project in Languedoc Roussillon (south of France),  coordinated by Yuna Chiffoleau, researcher at the National Institute for Agronomical Researches (INRA) of Montpellier : “to help local agriculture with proximity networks”. More information on : www.equal-croc.eu

-         The “Educational garden to ecologic agriculture and responsible growth of produce”, march-april 2009, in Paimboeuf, France (Estuaire exhibition : http://www.estuaire.info/009/html/fr/estuaire_cest_aussi.html) and in Languedoc with Kinya Maruyama, Japanese architect, Yuna Chiffoleau and Sylvie Wheeler… Work in Progress !

I met architects and clay craftsmen in Japan from the 14th of June to the 14th of July. There is a selection of pictures posted here.

 

Clay Museum Gnevsdorf (Germany)

2007 exhibition : selection of 30 pictures, on vernacular clay construction and Buddhist temples, that I shot during a trek in Ladakh (India) in 2005.

Upcoming program : clay decoration in Japan, conference and pictures took during a travel in July 2007.
